JP Thompson

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

John Paul Thompson is a portrait, commercial, and fine art photographer.
Born in New Orleans, raised in the River Parishes, and currently residing in Natchitoches, traveling all over is a necessity and a pleasure.
"As a photographer, I don't limit myself to one specific genre or specialty. My incessant desire to capture the world as I see it is my most dominant motivation.
I have a unique perspective on the world around me both physically and creatively.
Capturing that in order to portray it to others is what I call my "Creative Imperative."
This usually includes extremely low angle images, typically employed along with wide angle optics. I also approach portraits with the same vigor and artistic vision as I do fine art prints, and try every day to blur the lines between the two.
Places and people are often my main subject matter, and that offers enough diversity and creative inspiration to provide me with most all images I love to create and present. I travel all over for work, with New York, New Orleans, and Natchitoches being my most often-shot locations.
My ultimate goal as a photographer and artist is to make the viewer enjoy looking at my images as much as I enjoy making them.
This sounds impossible to me, but I'll keep trying."
" JP says.
Published in newspapers, magazines, book covers, and gallery shows and exhibitions. He also creates fine art prints, has too many dogs in his house, and watches way too much television at night.
